3 O’Clock Session – Cinema Trindade

170 secondary school students and teachers from nine schools across Espinho, Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, S. João da Madeira, Santa Maria da Feira and Ovar.

Created during the 2025 Artistic Animation Workshop and Artistic Residency at CINANIMA. Developed under the theme of Memory and structured in three phases: teacher training, in-school mentorship, and a six-day artistic residency, the workshop invited participants to both watch and make cinema. Guided by professional animation mentors, students explored personal and collective memories, transforming them into a shared visual narrative.

This film is dedicated to the memory of the iconic cinemas of our cities. Cine-Teatro S. Pedro, Espinho, demolished to make way for a residential building. Cine-Teatro Imperador, S. João da Madeira, after extensive and transformative works, is now Casa da Criatividade, without a cinema. Cinema Trindade, Porto, survives with a small auditorium after being stripped of its terrace with open-air cinema and esplanade, to make way for a bingo hall and a hotel.
